Eight Pieces of Brocade Qi Gong (Ba Duan Jin) is probably the most popular and practiced Qi Gong set in the world. It is easy to learn and profound in it’s effects.
The focus of the Eight Brocade is on opening up the muscles and tendons and healing and harmonizing the five Zang Organs - Liver, Kidneys, Spleen/Stomach, Heart, and Lungs - while simultaneously strengthening the bones and sinews, and removing energetic blockages and obstructions. Because the movements are fairly gentle, they do not stress the joints or exhaust the body, but rather build up and increase internal energy.
Eight Brocade Qi Gong has been the subject of numerous scientific studies on varying populations, from young athletic people to older people with multiple health issues. Across the board, the Eight Brocade produces positive results in terms of gains in strength and flexibility, as well as lowered blood pressure, increased lung capacity and cardiopulmonary function, quality of life and reduced stress.
The Eight Brocade Qi Gong exercises take about 30 minutes a day to perform, making it easy to fit a daily practice into a busy schedule, even if one travels a lot.
