About Lora Leigh
Welcome!
My name is Lora Leigh. My personal healing journey led me to the North American Tang Shou Tao Association where I found a home in the ancient wisdom of Chinese medicine and martial arts. After deep practice and extensive training, I am privileged to offer holistic somatic bodywork that honors traditional Chinese medicine and the lineages I practice, the inner wisdom of the body, and the healing power of presence and imagination.
I am a licensed massage therapist with advanced training in Jin Shou Tuina™, a lineage-based Chinese medical massage system practiced and exclusively taught through the North American Tang Shou Tao Association (NATSTA). I have been a member of NATSTA since 2006. My training with Tuina began in 2009 and continues to this day through ongoing study with senior practitioners in my gongfu family and beyond.
Alongside this, I practice CranioSacral Therapy (CST), a gentle yet profound modality developed by osteopath Dr. John Upledger. My introduction to CST came through NATSTA’s founder, Dr. Vince Black, who was both a student and colleague of Dr. Upledger. I had the honor and privilege of apprenticing with Dr. Black for over a year in Tucson, where I deepened my understanding of multi-hands therapy and the intimate connection between the physical, emotional, and energetic body. I continue to train with the Upledger Institute and I am qualified to support classes as a teaching assistant.
In addition to hands-on therapies, I bring a creative and embodied dimension to my work through Somatic Movement and Expressive Arts, drawing from my certification with the internationally recognized Tamalpa Institute. As a registered Somatic Movement Therapist and Educator and Professional Member of ISMETA, I uphold the highest standards of ethical, trauma-informed practice.
My work is both intuitive and rooted in tradition — a weaving of ancient bodywork and somatic awareness, modern neuroscience, and creative inquiry. Whether you are coming to me for relief from acute or chronic pain, rehabilitation from injury or surgery, support during stressful times, or simply to reconnect with your own body’s wisdom, I meet you with care, respect, and curiosity.
I believe that healing doesn’t stop at the treatment table. I love supporting my clients with simple, practical tools they can integrate into their daily lives. I provide mindful movement and breath work exercises, as well as dietary and lifestyle guidance drawn from Chinese medicine and my martial arts training. When appropriate, I offer specific self-care exercises to help you deepen your relationship with your own healing process. I teach regular qigong classes on Mondays (donation based) and Fridays in my Floyd clinic, and at Warm Hearth Village in Blacksburg on Wednesdays. To support collective healing, I offer donation based community ear acupuncture (NADA 5NP) in Floyd every Friday.
My goal is to support your personal healing journey, to meet you where you are with a neutral grounded presence, skill, and open heart.
